Overall, the stay was okay. It was centrally located right above a supermarket which was great. The host was communicative majority of the time and was kind enough to accommodate a late check-out for us. However, the stay lacked the love and attention which I’ve come to appreciate in home stays. For example, it was listed to have washing machine, but there was barely enough detergent for one load. So we restocked it for her. We stayed almost a week with 3 guests noted and there were only two rolls of toilet paper provided, no paper towel, no shower essentials etc. so we also restocked all of that.
One of the bedrooms and the main living room had no lightbulbs, so we often sat in poorly lit rooms at night. Also, the cleaning agent that was used upon our arrival was SO strong, it made a couple of us super nauseous the first night (I don’t fault the owner for this, but it could be nice to use less toxic cleaning supplies moving forward).
Overall, grateful for the location but also it is important to know that there were a lot of homeless people/ drug users in the area which made us feel slightly uncomfortable at some points as they actively followed us and yelled in the streets at different points in the trip.

Isabel is a fantastic host. The apartment is quite comfortable and well equipt with all I needed to feel at home. The one thing that I didn’t realize enough was how much the volume from the street would impact me. The windows are double paned though so if you don’t need the windows open for breeze, this is not a problem.

Central in the town, short walk to absolutely everything. Big and beautiful apartment with all you needed. I liked that it also had a balcony. Easy to communicate with the owner, she responded quickly.

It is close to the beautiful old harbor. From the balcony you can see the ocean. The supermarket and taxis are right outside. Just a few steps in any direction you will find a restaurant.

The location fabulous, with restaurants across the street and bands on the weekends. Area is loud but worth he location. Apartment was warm.

Isabel is great: easy to reach and she replies quickly. The apartment is clean and spacious, really nothing to complain there. The only reason for bringing the 10 all the way back to a 7 is the noise. The great location close to the market and restaurants comes with a drawback: the noise from the streets in combination with single glazing was quite disruptive to our sleep.

Apartmant is true to photos, perfectly postioned on the island. Everything needed very close. Isabel is very responsive and kind, ready to help out resolve any situation fast. Pingo Doce, supermarket is next door. It gets a little noisy at night but nothing troublesome if you are in the apartment or room.

Câmara de Lobos is a nice place. Its harbour is one of recommended places to visit during trip to Madeira.
There is a beautiful oceanside walkway towards Funchal. However, it's under construction at the moment and closed right after cement factory.
The apartments are located on the main street, right above the grocery store (which is very convenient), and opposite the market. The location is quite noisy due to diesel intercity busses and horrible sounding motorbikes (of which there are many). It's okay during night (after midnight till ~6 am) but sometimes you don't want to open windows during the day because of the noise. Another problem is smokers (from the grocery) who usually stay right under your windows making you (and your kids) smell their smoke.
And there are bunch of homeless people who usually hang around entrance to the apartments. They are harmless but sometimes might be a bit noise (one of them loves to whistle all the day, they can argue sometimes).

Visit CHOUX PÂTISSERIE when you are in Funchal. You won't regret. They have really good deserts, and the atmosphere is very peaceful.
The app is in a great condition. It's very well maintained and has everything you need for comfortable stay. The host is very responsive and helpful.

The location of the apartment is amazing. 5 minutes to walk to tens of restaurants and bars. Right below the apartment grocery shop, where you can buy grilled chicken and sweet potatoes and that's a very affordable way of living. There is a great pizza restaurant, where the Italian chef doing an amazing job.
The apartment is a great size for a family of 4 and the balcony is great for morning and evening chilling time. It's very interesting to watch life right in front of the building from the balcony.
There is a great route to Funchal and a natural pool around the sea. 2,2km by walking around the sea. Great bars and sand beaches to explore there.
It was 40 minutes on average to a lot of lavadas around the island, and 15 minutes to Funchal. We found a great Praia de Machico (beach) which was amazing. The best lavada for kids was PR 6.1 - Levada do Risco.
Little Things to improve in the apartment -> mattress and hot water during the stay.
We stayed in December and we were surprised by the temperature of the ocean. A couple of times we swam with kids.

The apartment is clean, bright, and spacious, boasting a convenient location near the ocean, observation decks, the beach, a bus stop, a large grocery store, a farmer's market, and a pharmacy. The only drawback is the slight noise from the street due to its placement in a busy area. However, with the windows closed, the road noise becomes barely audible. Additionally, there is a playground for small children. The hosts are helpful, hospitable, and respond quickly. Diana even prepared an extra bed for the child. I highly recommend both the hosts and the apartment.
