We had a great stay in our shared apartment in Prague 10. We can’t wait to dive into all the details and share our experience in our Prague home to give you an exact idea of what it’s all about.
WIFI SPEED
One of the highlights of this room in the shared apartment is how good the wifi is. It is a fairly large room but whether you’re sitting on the sofa, by the table, or lying in bed the wifi is excellent.
We worked from home multiple times while other people were home using the same network and the wifi was always great with no problems.
With an upload speed in the 80s and download speed in the 40s, this is good enough for any digital nomad looking to work from home.
DEDICATED WORKSPACE
In terms of a dedicated workspace, there is no actual desk or anything that is dedicated to work.
As of now, the workspace is the main table in the room which is also the dining table. The chairs and table are completely fine (especially for short-term stays) and there was plenty of room for the two of us to get work done.
Personally, if we were staying there longer I think it would be nice to have a designated work desk and an ergonomic chair and maybe even a ring light for meetings, etc.
We do believe there could be space inside the room for a desk in one of the corners with an ergonomic chair that would be a great workspace.
EXERCISE AND MEDITATION SPACE
The room itself is quite big which is really nice – and there is lots of natural light which we appreciate.
There isn’t particularly an area dedicated to exercise as “home” is only one bedroom in the apartment, however, there’s enough room for a yoga mat between the bed and the couch.
Even though there isn’t a whole lot of room to exercise, there is a hanging chair (porch chair) that you can easily meditate and relax in. It’s comfy with some pillows and blankets and would make for a great place to meditate.
ACCESSIBILITY
One thing that is nice about this home in Prague 10 is its accessibility to public transport.
Even though you’re not in the heart of the city (which is a good thing) you’re close enough to trams and metro that can get you there relatively quickly.
The area is super local, quiet and safe so it’s even walking distance to some of the popular areas, parks, and cute cafes!
It’s not quite as close as the current description indicates but it’s still very convenient.
Other related info
There are a few other things – good and bad – which we would like to highlight:
The good
The bed was huge and extremely comfy! The room itself is very stylish, modern, and hip as well – but the bed was the best!
The natural light in the room is fantastic. There are two big windows that face the courtyard which bring in lots of natural light and you can easily have the windows open without it being too loud which is nice in a big city like Prague.
The communication with the owner is very good and the owner actually lives in this home so when you have any questions or anything, Vaclav is there to help answer. He is Czech and has lived in Prague for a long time so he will know the answer to most questions you have.
The place is clean! From the room to the shared kitchen and shared bathroom and toilet it’s all clean.
There’s recycling bins! Vaclav has set up a system so that you can recycle your plastic, paper, etc. which is something we really appreciate.
The not-so-good/could be improved
Even though the room/home was very clean the moment we walked into our room the smell of cleaning products was very strong. Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t a bad smell but it was pretty strong. I know many people are sensitive to perfume and cleaning products so that’s definitely one thing to consider.
Vaclav the owner said there is some sort of city tax which everyone has to pay. Apparently, it’s some Prague city law which we’ve never heard of. So we had to pay an extra 50 CZK per person per day which FLATIO clearly states there are no extra or hidden fees unless it says in the contract. Nowhere in the contract does it state that so that would be good to include in the listing.
There is a shared fridge which is completely fine. Since there are multiple people sharing the fridge that does lead to minimal room. There is essentially enough room for 1-2 days worth of groceries & leftovers. This is fine for most people but it is a downside if you plan to buy more things at once since there’s not too much room.
There’s nothing the landlord can do but there is no room to eat in the kitchen area just the way the apartment is set up. So the only option is to eat in your room!
Even though the room is fit for Flatio and can feel like a home it still feels very Airbnb-like. Especially with the Airbnb stickers and lots of the people coming in and out are short-term stays. Even in one of the messages from the host they forgot to change “AIRBNB” in the message to “FLATIO”. It’s not really an issue for us but it does make it feel more like a short-term stay than a “home” which is what Flatio is going for.
The positive of it being more like an AIRBNB meant that it was always clean and we did not have to clean upon checkout which was a MAJOR PLUS!
All in all, it’s a great place to call home in a beautiful part of Prague. Of course, you don’t have the whole flat to yourself and you’re sharing the kitchen, bathroom, and toilet with multiple people but the room itself is really nice and very big.
There are a few minor things that could be improved but otherwise, it is a great place to call home and a place you could easily stay for a longer period of time.
Flatio Post information
The room has actually been updated and the furniture has been changed and looks a lot better than the current photos.
It says that it is a 15-minute walk from the apartment to the National Museum. If you look on Google Maps it says it’s a 35-minute walk. We’ve walked it multiple times and it may not be 35 minutes but it’s definitely not 15. Personally, 30 minutes sounds fair.
In the description, it says “if you decide to cook” → this could probably be reworded to “when you cook” since a lot of digital nomads cook at home at least a few times a week!
Final thoughts
The apartment is great and has lots of potential. I think the major downside is that it still caters more to AIRBNB and not Flatio which is visible – but it is what it is.
Also, the city fee of 50 CZK/person per day was quite strange and I would have liked to be informed of that beforehand.
Otherwise, it was a great stay and the room was wonderful! We would definitely stay here again :)
The location of the house is quite convenient, not too far from public transport (a 10-minute walk).
The common areas were clean and had everything you might need.
The landlord is available for any need or situation.
It's a hip neighbourhood located to some cool bars, a board game cafe, a short walk from parks. Not as close to the city centre as other neighbourhoods but still not far and the public transport runs only a few minutes away.

Quite, as close to city center as needed, great public transport
The room I stayed in had enough space and light, I was comfortable working remotely. Internet connection is good and I didn't hear any noises or other guests at all.
The kitchen is common but clean and well organized, I also had my own fridge to store anything.
It was the first time for me to share a flat and it was a great experience overall, will miss it!
The neighborhood is calm and quite, there are parks, coffeeshops, and public transportation is not far away from the apartment. I would recommend it over staying in the city center for sure.
